Residents Required to Shovel Snow
Full Description:
As winter returns, it’s a good time to remind Longmont residents of their duty to clear the sidewalks adjacent to their property of snow and ice. Longmont Municipal code 9.04.130 states that the owner, manager, or a tenant leasing the entire premises of any property abutting a public sidewalk; or any adult occupant of a single family home abutting a public sidewalk, must clear the walk of snow and ice the entire width of the sidewalk or to at least 4 feet, whichever is less. Failure to shovel the sidewalk abutting your property may result in an official notice from Code Enforcement. If you receive notice in the mail, or as a door hanger at your residence, you have 24 hours to shovel the snow and remove the ice. If you do not comply with the official notice, you may be issued a summons and the City will order a contractor to shovel the walks at your expense. To report snow and ice violations on sidewalks, citizens may call Code Enforcement at 303-651-8695 or 303-651-8321.
